We’re exploring one of the most well-known spots on the A.T., it has breathtaking views, and it’s going to make an amazing spot to tell your love story. The trail is slightly uphill, but level for much of the trip, on the easy side of moderate. Extremely well maintained, as the A.T. in Shenandoah N.P. typically is, and not rocky at all until the peak.

At the summit, it’s immediately breathtaking as you'll be able to see forever in 270-degree views. Ridge after ridge can be seen in the distance, and you can clearly understand why the mountains around here are called “Blue Ridge.” There are some very steep drop-offs, so watch your step.

Here’s what makes this such a great spot for an engagement shoot or elopement. The peak, in fact, is actually two peaks. A few steps before you summit, the path forks to the two pretty much equally high rocky outcroppings. They’re just a few yards apart and have a clear view across to each other, so you can see one side from the other. That means you can stand on one peak while your videographer/photographer gets some spectacular shots of you from the other!
